Whole Submission:
My 'work of art' is called "Free Flowing" because I see that SANAA's work throughout their architectural career has been very refined and when they work with curves, they make it in a way that it is elegant and sleek.

In regards to the montage, I chose to represent my concept of simplicity and free-flowing design as an integrated idea on two separate pieces of A3 paper but displayed as one poster :)
The concept of simplicity comes from the effortlessness of SANA's buildings and gives a light-filled environment with the soft tones and basic colour palette of multiple buildings such as the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
The free-flowing concept is derived from the curvaceous planes of the Multimedia Centre in Oogaki. Also, the Rolex Learning Centre partially influenced my 3ds max model by taking ideas from its continuous and curved components.

Your interpretation needs slight refining and unpacking. “Simplicity” and “free flowing” is just describing their style and these are probably not appropriate themes for this exercise. From what I can gather from reading through your blog, you seem to have derived your first theme “simplicity” from lightness. You need to ask yourself how they are achieving this lightness. What techniques are used? Although the materiality of the architecture may be constructed of heavy (steel & concrete) materials, SANAA uses transparency and reflection to create the illusion of light and effortless.
ReplyDeleteYour graphic layout of your montage is very aesthetically pleasing. You have incorporated a light and effortless feel through overlaying soft, transparent, grayscale images. Great use of space. The title text and free flowing lines are consistent with your analysis.
All weekly blog tasks have been completed, which is great to see! The digital model is coherent with your current theme. Render style is basic, but effective.
